Our authors are using the words they learned to spell in Kindergarten as they tell their personal stories in these first drafts. Notice how they are beginning to add the “when” to their stories. As writers, our first graders will progress from “best guess” spelling to correct spelling. First graders are learning so much about words and spelling, it is so exciting to see them use what they know about words to attempt to spell unknown words. Way to go first grade authors!!!!
